Fans have continuously evolved in their type and quality over the years since their inception. As the years passed by, one could find a variety of fans in the market. But the basic design of every fan is still the same as it used to be when it was first introduced. The fans channelize the air around into a breeze which makes the surrounding cool. However the impact is felt only when a person comes in direct contact with the wind delivered by these and the net temperature of the room is not biased by the fans. The bladeless fans are a milestone and tend to bring about a revolution in the fan industry. The bladeless ceiling fans use simple mechanisms to give a direct cooling effect to the person near them by using simple mechanisms. Exhale Fans is one such company which has come up with the idea of a bladeless fan.
WORKING OF A FAN WITHOUT BLADES
A specific model of blade less fans consists of a series of discs which spin around when the power is switched on. The spinning of these discs results in the laminar flow of the trapped air through these discs. This air provided by the fan is circulated throughout the room and again come back to reach out to the central part of the fan. The fan takes this air in by using the principle of vortex flow. There is an even distribution of air in the room which was one of the flaws in the traditional fans with blades. The discs rotate by getting power from a DC Motor which can be operated using a wireless remote at different speeds and settings. The unique device has resulted from an out of the box thinking. The first blade-less fans are inspired from the turbines of Tesla and required a lot of research to get the perfect design.
AN ALTERNATIVE MODEL
The other similar model is called an Air Multiplier. The fan features a pedestal with a circular tube fixed over it. The motor present in the pedestal part takes in air and circulates it through the circular tube. The circulating air in the tube is removed through an opening which gives a cold feeling to the person standing on the front of the fan. The motor used in the pedestal draws up to 20 litres of air. The two processes involved in providing a steady flow of air from the fans are called as inducement (the lateral draw of the air behind the tubes) and entrainment (the motion of the air at the edges of the fan).
These fans without blades generate the least amount of sound and provide the necessary comfort to the users. A great innovation by itself, a blade-less fans also enhances the elegance of the house and serves as a great home decor. A step beyond the traditional fans, these fans are unique in their operation and also consume less energy and parallel offer a whole lot of additional perks too. These might include easy cleaning of the fan and a relief from the traditional dirt accumulation on the blades. The blades cause a buffeting of the air stream which is successfully eliminated in case of bladeless fans where there are no blades to hit the air stream before it reaches the person.
